כָּלִיל adjective and substantive entire, whole, holocaust, construct כְּלִיל, feminine construction כְּלִילַת: —

1. adjective Ezekiel 16:14 (of Jerusalem) the report בְּיָפְיֵךְ כִּי כָּלִיל הוּא, Ezekiel 28:12 כְּלִיל יָֹֽפִי׃ (of the king of Tyre) entire, perfect in beauty; Ezekiel 27:3 אֲנִי כְּלִילַת יָֹֽפִי׃ (of Tyre), Lamentations 2:15 (of Jerusalem) הֲזֹאת הָעִיר שֶׁיּאֹמְרוּ כְּלִילַת יֹ֔פִי.

2. substantive a. entirety, whole, Exodus 28:31 thou shalt make the robe of the ephod כְּלִיל תְּכֵלֶת a whole of purple (i.e. wholly purple); so Exodus 39:22; Numbers 4:6 בֶּגֶד כְּלִיל תְּכֵלֶת; Judges 20:40 והנה עלה כְּלִילהָֿעִיר השׁמימה the whole of the city (perhaps with allusion to meaning

b); as adverb accusative, Isaiah 2:18 וְהָאֱלִילִים כָּלִיל יַחֲלֹף will pass away in entirety, wholly.

b. as a sacrificial term, entire- or whole-offering, holocaust, of a sacrifice consumed wholly on the altar (compare Phoenician כלל CIS^{I. i, 165, 167}; RS^{Rel. Semitic 237}), usually a descriptive synonym of עוֺלָה: Deuteronomy 33:10 יָשִׂימוּ קְטוֺרָה בְּאַמֶּ֔ךָ וְכָלִיל עַל מִזְכְֶּ˜חן׃, Psalm 51:21 אז תחפץ זבחי צדק עוֺלָה וְכָלִיל, in app. 1 Samuel 7:9 ויעלה עוֺלָה כָּלִיל ליהוה; of the priests' מִנְחָה, Leviticus 6:15 ליהוה כָּלִיל תָּקְטָֽר, Leviticus 6:16 וְכָלמִֿנְחַת כֹּהֵן כָּלִיל תִּהְיֶה לֹא תֵאָכֵל; fig, Deuteronomy 13:17 (of idolatrous city) ושׂרפת באשׁ אתהֿעיר ואתכֿל שׁללהּ אלהיך ׳כָּלִיל לי and thou shalt burn the city and all its spoil as a whole-offering to ׳י.
